Bear Camp Classic

Celebrate the tradition, challenge, and excitement of black bear season with the Willow Creek Sportsman’s Club Bear Camp Classic—an event dedicated to hunting heritage, conservation, sportsmanship, and the camaraderie that has made bear camp a treasured outdoor tradition for generations.

Black bear hunting offers an experience unlike almost any other hunt. Bears inhabit vast, rugged country, move unpredictably, and possess remarkable senses and instincts. Success often requires teamwork, patience, knowledge of the land, persistence, and plenty of time spent in the woods. For many hunters, simply participating in a bear hunt—sharing the woods and the experience with family and friends—is every bit as memorable as the harvest itself. That challenge and uncertainty are part of what make bear season so unique.

Throughout the Bear Camp Classic, hunters and community members can take part in our Big Bear Contest, try their luck with a gun raffle, and participate in additional activities throughout the event. Whether you’re returning from a long day in the woods, gathering with your hunting crew, swapping stories from the day’s hunt, or simply stopping by to support the club, everyone is invited to be part of the tradition.

The Bear Camp Classic also celebrates the connection between responsible hunting and wildlife conservation. Regulated hunting is one of the tools wildlife agencies use to manage wildlife populations, while hunters and sportsmen’s organizations contribute to conservation through license revenues, habitat projects, education, and volunteer efforts. Just as importantly, hunting traditions provide an opportunity for experienced hunters to pass along ethical hunting practices, firearm safety, respect for wildlife, and responsible stewardship of our natural resources.

At Willow Creek Sportsman’s Club, sportsmanship means more than what happens during the hunt. It means respecting the animal, respecting the land, supporting fellow hunters, following ethical hunting practices, and helping preserve our outdoor heritage for future generations.

Proceeds from the Willow Creek Bear Camp Classic help support the club’s conservation efforts, outdoor education, youth programs, and opportunities that encourage the next generation to experience and appreciate the outdoors.

Embrace the challenge. Respect the hunt. Honor the tradition. Support conservation.
